Ambroxol AL is used in acute and chronic respiratory diseases. These are e.g. acute and recurrent bronchitis, laryngitis and tracheitis, as well as chronic diseases such as. chronic bronchitis and chronic lung disease. Patients with acute respiratory disease may take the product without consulting a physician. Patients suffering from chronic respiratory diseases may take the product on a long-term basis only after consulting a doctor.
Acute diseases are usually accompanied by a dry irritating cough at the beginning, or even a burning sensation in the chest in bronchitis and hoarseness in laryngitis. In the further course, there is a formation of mucus and gradual expectoration. In chronic conditions, there can be both types of cough - a dry irritant cough and a wet type of cough with expectoration of mucus.
Ambroxol AL belongs to the group of medicines that dilute mucus accumulated in the airways (so-called. mucolytics) and facilitating expectoration (so-called. expectorant). Ambroxol hydrochloride, the active ingredient in the drug, increases mucus secretion in the airways, the production of pulmonary surfactant (a substance that coats the inner walls of the lung chambers) and stimulates the activity of cilia to move mucus.
These effects result in more profuse liquefaction, better transport and expulsion of mucus (mucociliary clearance), thereby facilitating expectoration and relieving cough.
Ambroxol AL is indicated for adults, adolescents and children. Children under 2 years of age may take Ambroxol AL only on the advice of a doctor. If you do not feel better within 5 days (within 3 days for children) or if you feel worse, you must consult a doctor. The package contains 100 ml.
Dosage and method of use
Always take this medicine exactly as directed in the package insert or by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Unless otherwise directed by a physician, the recommended dosage of the product is:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:
at the beginning of treatment 4 ml (equivalent to 60 drops) 3 times a day, later the dose is reduced to 2 ml 3 times a day (equivalent to 30 drops 3 times a day) or 4 ml 2 times a day (equivalent to 60 drops 2 times a day).
Use in children: Children from 6 to 12 years old:
2 ml 2 - 3 times a day (equivalent to 2-3×30 drops)
Children from 2 to 5 years:
1 ml 3 times a day (equivalent to 3×15 drops)
Children under 2 years:
1 ml 2 times a day (equivalent to 2×15 drops)
Children under 2 years of age may take the product only on the advice of a doctor.
Method of administration:
Each pack contains a measuring cup to measure out the prescribed doses in millilitres.
Take the drops with meals diluted with tea, fruit juice, milk or water.
Duration of treatment:
The duration of treatment with Ambroxol AL is determined individually, depending on the indication and type of disease. However, if symptoms do not improve significantly within 5 days (3 days in children) or worsen, a doctor should be consulted.
Do not take this medicine for more than 5 days without consulting your doctor.
Contraindications
Read the package insert carefully. Do not take other cough medicines without consulting your doctor.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding and fertility: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you think, that you might be pregnant, or you're planning to get pregnant, check with your doctor or pharmacist first, before taking this medicine.
It is not recommended to take the product in pregnancy, especially in the first 3 months. Since ambroxol hydrochloride is excreted in breast milk, it is not recommended that breastfeeding mothers take the product.
Notice
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Ambroxol AL if you have kidney impairment or severe liver disease. There have been reports of severe skin reactions associated with the administration of ambroxol hydrochloride. If you develop a skin rash (including lesions on the lining of the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, or genitals), stop taking Ambroxol AL and contact your doctor immediately.
Storage
Keep this product out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the box and bottle after EXP. The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated.
Keep the bottle in the box to protect the product from light.
Store at temperatures up to 25 °C.
Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
