Ardbeg An Oa 0,7l 46,6 %
The Mull of Oa is the southernmost tip of the Scottish island of Islay. Here, the ocean relentlessly attacks the high cliffs every day, and the wind regularly whips the grassy plains. It’s a harsh, but in every way beautiful, part of the “whisky isle”, where several natural elements clash at any given moment. The locals know it well, and not just for the stunning ocean views. Since it's just a stone's throw from the Ardbeg distillery, they decided to dedicate a bottle to the Mull of Oa peninsula: Ardbeg An Oa. To create it, however, a separate room with a large marrying vat was needed. They call it the Gathering Vat. It is here that several Ardbeg whiskies come together.
Characteristics
Sweet notes from Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, spicy notes from virgin charred oak casks, and intense notes from American bourbon casks. Together, they create a beautifully rich, smoky, and well-rounded bouquet of aromas and flavours. Peat, toffee, dark chocolate, aniseed, black pepper, cinnamon, and cloves. The typically long, smoky finish is just as rich. An excellent bottle full of the rugged flavours of the Isle of Islay.
