Active ingredients
- Ginkgo leaf extract is rich in antioxidants. [1, 2] It contains high amounts of flavonoids and terpenoids, [3, 4] which help neutralize free radicals caused by stress and other factors. Ginkgo is often associated with lowering levels of the stress hormone cortisol. [5, 6] In traditional Asian culture, Ginkgo was used to "open energy channels" leading to various organs. These channels were probably related to improved microcirculation of the blood system. [7] Ginkgo has also been studied in relation to stress reduction or cognitive decline in old age. However, the overall results of the studies are still inconsistent and further research is ongoing.
