The ROG CROSSHAIR X870E EXTREME eATX motherboard with the AMD X870E chipset supports AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series processors for the AMD AM5 socket. The board features two PCIe 5.0 x16 SafeSlots with Q-Release Slim and uses a 20+2+2 power solution rated at 110A per phase with ProCool II connectors. It supports up to 256GB of DDR5 memory in four dual-channel DIMM slots with NitroPath DRAM technology, AEMP, and extensive support for AMD EXPO overclocking profiles with frequencies up to 8600MHz. The integrated full-colour 5" LCD display lets you monitor system performance in real time or display personalised animations and graphics via the Armoury Crate software.

Expansion slots and storage
The board supports PCIe 5.0 for graphics cards, which has double the data transfer speed of PCIe 4.0, improved signal integrity and backwards compatibility with previous PCIe versions. It includes three onboard M.2 slots with PCIe 5.0 x4 support and two M.2 22110 slots with PCIe 4.0 x4 support via the ROG DIMM.2 card. The PCIe 5.0 x16 slots are equipped with SafeSlot retainers to support massive graphics cards and offer incredible speeds of up to 64Gb/s for compatible devices. The top slot is easy to release with the Q-Release Slim button.
AI features, overclocking and cooling
AI Cache Boost is a BIOS setting exclusive to ASUS AMD series motherboards with Ryzen 9000 processors that optimises the CPU cache and memory channels, delivering up to 29% higher local LLM performance through high-speed memory tuning. The Dynamic OC Switcher boosts CPU performance by automatically switching between manual overclocking for demanding multi-threaded tasks and Precision Boost Overdrive for single-threaded tasks. AI Cooling II balances the thermal and acoustic characteristics of a PC build with a single click, dynamically adjusting fans to their optimal speed. AI Networking II combines technologies that optimise network performance, provide reliable connections and unlock the speed of WiFi 7. The board is equipped with massive VRM heatsinks with thermal pads, a chipset heatsink with an active fan, M.2 heatsinks with an active fan, and a range of headers for 4-pin PWM/DC fans and AIO pumps.
Personalisation and DIY-friendliness
M.2 Q-Release, M.2 Q-Slide and M.2 Q-LATCH simplify the installation of M.2 storage devices. The PCIe Slot Q-Release Slim lets users remove a graphics card by tilting the card in the slot instead of pressing the retention clip. The Q-Code diagnostic display shows two-digit diagnostic codes for troubleshooting, and Q-LED helps with solving any potential issues. The board is equipped with a full-colour 5" LCD display that can show ROG animations, system information and personalised images via Armoury Crate. ASUS Aura Sync offers RGB lighting control with the ability to synchronise with compatible hardware. ASUS DriverHub simplifies driver management with automatic detection, installation and one-click updates for smooth and efficient system performance.
