Different types of jacks

• Hydraulic - hydraulic jacks usually have a detachable lever that is pumped in order to actuate the lifting mechanism; manual pumping can also be substituted by an air compressor. The vehicle is lowered by gradually releasing the safety valve. Hydraulics ensure you can lift even very heavy vehicles with minimal effort.
• Bottle - a basic type of a hydraulic jack with an affordable price tag and small footprint.
• Floor - has wheels for easier and more convenient handling; special low-profile versions can get under vehicles that are particularly low to the ground.
• Scissor - a tried and true design that uses a screw mechanism to produce the lifting power. They are cheaper compared to hydraulic jacks, but their handling is slightly harder and more time-consuming.
• Jack stands - are included with every jack. After lifting the vehicle to a needed height, they ensure it will stay in a stable position and allow you to potentially move the jack to the other side of the vehicle.

Important parameters

• Weight capacity - the jack weight capacity must always be greater than the weight of your vehicle.
• Minimum lift - for your safety, the minimum lift of the jack must be lower than is the height of your car’s chassis.
• Maximum lift - the maximum height to which you can lift the chassis.

How to use a jack properly

• Find a flat and even spot with a solid concrete, cobblestone, or asphalt surface. Never use a jack on soil or grass.
• Engage the parking brake and select the first or reverse gear to prevent the vehicle from moving by accident.
• Place the jack in a factory approved area. The place is often marked with an arrow or a similar symbol. Proper jack placement is really important, as placing it wrong can deform the sill. We suggest consulting your car manual before starting.
