Fisetin is a plant polyphenol present in many plants. It was first isolated from the plant Scumpa venezia, however, it is also contained in e.g. and the well-known strawberries. The ratio of fisetin in relation to the individual plants is very small, meaning that you would have to consume large quantities of these fruits for its therapeutic use. BrainMax Fisetin is extracted from the branches of Cotinus coggygria (the aforementioned pileated skunk). It is in capsule form and each capsule contains 100 mg of fisetin, which is the same as 600 grams of strawberries!
Aging of cells
As we age, senescent cells accumulate in our bodies. These are cells that are "too old". If the cells are damaged and everything works as it should, they are automatically eliminated and replaced with new cells. But not in senescent cells. On the contrary, they are accumulating. Senescent cells are old cells that do absolutely nothing for you. They don't grow or divide, but they can cause damage to the cells around them.
600 g strawberries contain 100 mg fisetin (1 capsule)
- The richest sources of fisetin include e.g. strawberries (approximately 160 mcg of fisetin per g). If you wanted to take the recommended daily dietary intake of fisetin, you would need to eat 1.2 kg of good quality strawberries.
- Strawberries, due to their quantity and sugar content, are not the best way to get the recommended daily allowance. After all, we are talking about more than a kilogram of strawberries a day.
