Benefits of herbal tinctures

Maceration is probably the oldest type of herb processing. Plants steeped in distilled alcohol have taken firm root in Western medicine. Tinctures are much more concentrated than herbal decoctions alone, making their effects more noticeable in a shorter period of time. Moreover, thanks to the alcohol content, they have a long shelf life and can last for several years if stored properly. The tincture is packed in dark bottles to protect it sufficiently from light. You can take it on its own, but also add it to water or juice.
