It started as an almost absurd debate after a few glasses of whiskey. How would it taste if we smoked barley as much as possible and burned it? But when you start thinking about something like that, it won't let you sleep until you try it. Fortunately! Otherwise, this goodness would not arise at all. Octomore is a legend among whiskeys that is unparalleled in the world.

It's unique

It is produced in very small numbered series and fans all over the world are waiting for each other like Santa. This is what their Christmas in 2008 looked like. The 08.1 series produced only 42,000 bottles at the Bruichladdich distillery.

It stands on Scottish malting barley harvested the previous year and smoked to a fair 167 ppm (167 phenol particles per 1 000 000 000 particles). It matured for 8 years in American oak barrels after such delicacies as Buffalo Trace, Clermont Springs, Four Roses, Heaven Hill or Jack Daniels. The bar for other bottles is set damn high.

Properties

Bruichladdich Octomore 08.1 smells of smoke, tar and peat with a little earthy moss. Behind all this is the aroma of candied oranges, pepper, chocolate, macaroons, vanilla caramels and lemon pie. On the palate, it is perfectly fine thanks to slow distillation and masterfully balances between smoky and fruity tones. A gentle kiss of fresh sea foam, woody tones with vanilla, caramels, marzipan and walnuts. Later, watermelon and citrus notes are added, accompanied by a light floral touch. And with each new tasting you discover new and new nooks and crannies. The finish is soft, sweet, perfectly smoky and completely inimitable. Vanilla, honey, citrus, sea mousse, leather, smoked mussels, autumn fern and cre`me brulee.
