Simple extractors from Ciarko Design won the prestigious Design Award at the IF Design Award 2024. This chimney model stands out for its unique minimalist design and innovative technologies. The jury was impressed by the convenient touch-free control, adjustable LED lighting, and excellent performance. 

Hand gesture control

Instead of pressing buttons, toggling sliders or looking for the remote control, you can use a modern, intuitive and completely touch-free control system that lets you operate the extractor with a few easy movements within range of the optical sensor. It also helps you keep the appliance clean, free from smudges and fingerprints. The extractor is equipped with a distinctive coloured LED that clearly informs you about its operation and the currently selected extraction power via its reflection in the hob glass (1-green; 2-blue; 3-purple; 4/Boost-red). To perfectly master an extractor equipped with this function, you just need to remember three simple movements: 1. Hold your hand in front of the motion sensor for at least 2 seconds to turn the extractor's LED lighting on or off. 2. Move your hand from left to right near the motion sensor to turn the extractor on, and with each subsequent movement in the same direction, you gradually increase the extraction power. 3. Move your hand from right to left to gradually decrease the extraction power until the extractor is completely switched off.

Inverter motor and Boost

Meet the new generation of inverter (also known as brushless or BLDC) motors, which are not only incomparably quieter and more economical than conventional carbon (or brushed) motors, but are also much more reliable. They are controlled electronically, which delivers the highest possible operating efficiency, meaning maximum performance with minimum energy consumption. In conventional motors equipped with carbon brushes, wear occurs due to friction against the rotor. In inverter motors, the classic carbon brushes are replaced by a rotor with magnets. This minimises the risk of mechanical wear, and inverter motors will serve you long and reliably. The intensive extraction function, or boost, enables an immediate switch to maximum extraction power in case of an acute need to ventilate a higher concentration of steam or odours.

Extraction and remote control

The extractor is equipped with an elegant and compact remote control, which lets you operate all the appliance's functions conveniently from a distance, for example, right from the kitchen table. In extraction mode, all unwanted fumes, odours, grease particles and moisture created during baking and cooking are ducted outside, away from the room and the building. The vent itself does not have to be located in the kitchen's external wall; the air can also be ducted through the roof or basement. In extraction mode, the cooker hood sucks in fumes from the pot or pan and passes them through a grease filter (stainless steel or aluminium), which cleans the air of grease particles that would otherwise settle in the ducting system and be a source of unpleasant odours. The kitchen fumes, stripped of grease particles and containing only odour particles, finally escape through an opening in the building's exterior as air vented out of the house. With correct installation of the extraction version of the cooker hood, backdraught flaps in the exhaust pipe should prevent outside air from flowing back into the building.

Recirculation

In recirculation mode, the extracted air is not ducted outside the room but remains within the living space. The extractor draws in air contaminated with cooking and frying fumes and, after cleaning it, blows it back into the kitchen. In addition to the grease filter, a carbon filter must also be installed in the extractor for recirculation mode. The extracted air first passes through the grease filters, which trap heavy grease particles, and then through filters with activated carbon, which absorb odours. As the carbon filter wears out, its surface can no longer fully bind the required amount of odour molecules, and the filtration efficiency decreases over time. The carbon filter must therefore be replaced regularly.
