The simple toy robot Cubetto is an easy way to teach kids who are not yet able to read and write, the basics of programming and logical thinking without using a computer. It consists of three parts: a friendly cube-shaped wooden robot on wheels, a control board and a play mat. 16 coloured coding blocks are also included in the package. By placing the blocks onto the control board, children program the cute robot and move it across the play mat with the aim of getting the robot from one sideof the mat to the other. Red means forward, blue turn left, yellow turn right, and green is the function key that switches to a subroutine. It is as simple as remembering the individual commands and learning how to place the coding blocks onto the control board. The control board communicates with the Cubetto robot via Bluetooth.
The Cubetto wooden robot is consistent with Montesorri pedagogy and its educational principles linked to 21st century skills such as coding. It helps children develop an intuitive understanding of coding logic which they can later apply to any platform or language they want. The game is designed for children from 3 to 7 years of age. It is powered by six AA batteries, not included in the package.
