The Hydraulic Bearing System, or HBS, is an improved type of plain bearing often used in fans for complete water cooling systems. The principle is a closed system containing a lubricant. The rotation of the fan shaft creates pressure that evenly distributes the lubricant across the sliding surfaces. This minimizes direct contact between metal parts, leading to reduced friction, wear, and overall fan noise. Compared to basic plain bearings, HBS offers a longer lifespan and more stable operation because the lubricant does not leak out or dry up as quickly due to the closed design.
