Presser Foot Pressure Regulation

Presser foot pressure regulation is a function that allows you to adjust the force with which the presser foot presses on the fabric. The presser foot is a part of the machine that holds the fabric in place while the lower feed dog moves it. Correct adjustment of this pressure is crucial for smooth feeding of various types of materials. For thin and delicate fabrics, such as silk or voile, the pressure needs to be reduced to prevent damage, indentations, or unwanted puckering. Conversely, for thick, stretchy, or multi-layered materials, such as sweatshirt fabric or denim, the pressure must be increased. Higher presser foot pressure ensures that the fabric does not slip and stitches are even. The adjustment is usually made using a rotary dial or screw located on the top part of the coverlock machine.
