QuanTanium refers to a type of multi-layer non-stick surface that is internally reinforced with titanium particles. This titanium reinforcement is part of the middle layer of the coating and is designed to increase the overall hardness and resistance of the pan surface to scratches and abrasion. This makes this type of surface more durable in normal use, even when in contact with certain types of metal utensils. The main feature remains non-stick, which allows food to be cooked with a minimum of fat and facilitates cleaning afterwards. These surfaces are manufactured without the use of PFOA, which is 'perfluorooctanoic acid', a substance that is removed from manufacturing processes for preventive health reasons.
