Russian Leverback Clasp

The Russian leverback clasp is a type of earring fastening characterized by a high degree of security against loss. It consists of a hook that passes through the earlobe and a movable, hinged part, a so-called flap. This flap snaps shut behind the ear and firmly secures the hook, thus preventing unintentional opening and loss of the earring. The entire mechanism is an integral part of the back of the earring, so there is no risk of losing any small parts. Sometimes, this type is also referred to as a "ladies' leverback" or "classic leverback" clasp.
