This premium-quality shea butter comes directly from Uganda, where the rarer, softer, and more nutrient-rich species of the African shea tree, Vitellaria nilotica, grows. This unrefined shea butter is of the highest quality, meaning it underwent no chemical processing. It therefore retains its natural characteristic aroma and maximum nutrients. Shea and karité are simply different names for the same product. The market is full of low-quality products due to differences in processing, harsh refining, and the two different species of trees that grow in different parts of Africa, which differ only in their Latin names. Vitellaria paradoxa and Vitellaria nilotica: compared to Vitellaria paradoxa, Vitellaria nilotica has a darker colour, a soft creamy texture, a more pleasant, gentler aroma, and a higher nutrient content.
