This premium-quality shea butter is imported directly from Uganda, where a rarer, softer and more nutrient-rich species of the shea tree grows, known by its Latin name Vitellaria nilotica. The shea butter is of the highest quality and completely unrefined. It therefore retains its natural characteristic aroma and maximum nutrients. Shea is simply another name for karité or shea butter. There are many low-quality products on the market due to differences in processing, refining and the two species of trees that grow in different parts of Africa, which differ only in their Latin names. Unlike Vitellaria paradoxa, Vitellaria nilotica has a darker colour, a soft creamy texture, a more pleasant and delicate aroma, and a higher nutrient content.
