COR-TEN® material
COR-TEN® is a special alloy steel developed for extreme outdoor conditions. It forms a natural protective patina on its surface - a thin layer of rust that prevents further corrosion. The patina is caused by moisture and alternating dryness. Over time, it stabilizes and forms a firm, durable surface. No painting or other maintenance is required. This makes the steel extremely durable and completely maintenance-free.

How does COR-TEN® change over time?
Out of the box, the material usually has a light metallic appearance, but may bear small traces of manufacture or incipient oxidation - however, these visual signs will gradually disappear during the natural patination process.
0-2 weeks: the steel begins to darken, the first signs of oxidation appear2-10 weeks: rapid rust development - golden rust colour, often with colour gradients2-12 months: the surface stabilizes to a deeper, rich brown-orange tone>12 months: the patina is mature, dust-free and durable - it hardly changes any further
