Electric drills are suitable for use in the workshop. They are powered directly from the mains, so there operating time is unlimited. The downside is that the power cable limits the length at which you can work from the mains supply. When choosing a power drill, it is important to know what kind of material you will be drilling.

Without hammer - suitable for wood, metal, plastic
Hammer - universal (hammer function can be turned off); suitable for wood, metal, plastic, concrete, stone and other construction materials

Important parameters:

Power consumption - more power means more efficient and faster drilling.
Range of clamping chuck - small drills: up to 8 mm; medium drills: 13 mm; large drills: 16 mm and bigger
Chuck type - keyed (drill is clamped manually using a key) or quick-release.
Weight - the lighter the drill, the easier it is to operate

Drill presses - designed for hobbyists, mechanics and handymen. Unlike hand drills, drill presses are attached to a work desk or table, and you can move them vertically using a lever.
