iAdapt Navigation

iAdapt Navigation ensures perfect home cleaning. Roomba monitors space with dozens of sensors and intelligently reacts to the shape and size of the room in combination with 40 predefined movements. Navigation guides the robot across the entire space, moving along the walls, around and under furniture for the most efficient cleaning.

High-capacity collecting bin

Roomba features a large dust-collecting bin. The finest dust particles are filtered with the HEPA filter. As soon as the binmotoris full, Roomba signals that it needs to be emptied.

AeroForce™ Three-stage Cleaning System

The iRobot Roomba Series 800 features one of the most fundamental innovations in the history of robotic vacuum cleaners -  AeroForce™ Three-stage Cleaning System. The AeroForce system concentrates airflow into a narrow gap between its spinning brushes, thus accelerating it. Combined with the new generation 2 motor, the suction power increases up to five times.

1. Spinning side brush

Due to the presence of a side brush, Roomba effectively cleans space around furniture, moving along wall edges into corners, and other hard-to-reach areas.

Two counter-spinning brushes

Two spinning rubber brushes with special grooves collect dirt from all kinds of floors and carpets. On hard floors, the dirt flows directly into the bin.

3. Suction motor

Fine dust extraction is ensured by a powerful second-generation suction motor. Air filtration is provided by HEPA filter.

Scheduled cleaning function

With the Scheduled Cleaning feature, you can choose the day and time you want the robot to do the cleaning. Roomba is not bothered by either darkness or obstacles, so it will always clean thoroughly even without your presence. iRobot offers cleaning schedules for every day at different times. You set up your robot, for example, to clean up three times a week, and the robot does the clean up every week at the scheduled time. This keeps the floor permanently clean.

Acoustic and optical detection of debris

Roomba is equipped with Dirt Detect system featuring acoustic and optical sensors, which detects excessively polluted places. Roomba then focuses extra cleaning energy where needed.

 iRobot Roomba 886

Room to Room function

Room to Room is used to navigate the robot in complex layouts. A virtual lighthouse, located in the door area, help Roomba with orientation and guide the robot through your home. Roomba stays in one room until it is completely clean then moves to the next.

Sensors to avoid stairs

Sensors located on the bottom of the robot can safely recognize a void under the robot, thus eliminating the possibility of falling off the stairs. Roomba stops, turns around nicely and continues to clean with a solid ground beneath its wheels.

Soft-touch bumper

The soft-touch bumper cushions the contact between Roomba and your furniture. It can recognise seeming obstacles such as bedspread or curtains and clean effectively even under the bed or around curtains.

Automatic charging in a charging dock

The charging dock is used to charge the battery. From the charging dock, the robot embarks on specific tasks when the CLEAN button is pressed. After cleaning, Roomba automatically returns to the charging dock and recharges itself.

 iRobot Roomba 886

SPOT programmme

SPOT programme is suitable for local cleaning. Manually activated, the robot thoroughly cleans the space within 1 square metre. You can use it instead of "broom and blade" when you spill sugar in your kitchen or when you want to clean your door mat.

 iRobot Roomba 886

Tangle-free system

iRobot is focuses on regular households and therefore has its robotic vacuum cleaner equipped with the ANTITANGLE function, preventing tangling and jamming into cables or carpet edges. When the brush encounters resistance, it reverses the spin. In this way, the robot releases itself from cables and can continue cleaning.

Virtual Wall Function/Halo

Roomba can be limited by a virtual wall. The virtual wall creates an invisible obstacle preventing the robot to move behind it. It is used when you need to clean up a limited area, or if you do not want Roomba to reach electrical, computer cables or fragile items. Some of the virtual walls also feature Halo function, which creates a protective field along the wall. Thus, the robot never reaches this space, and the function can be used for example when pets have their water bowls placed there.

What is his story?

iRobot originated from the belief of its three founders (Colin Angle, Helen Greiner and Rodney Brooks) that robotics will change the world and the way we work, learn, cure or clean. In the first year of his existence, iRobot, in collaboration with the NASA, introduced its space exploration robot Genghis. The breakthrough occurred in 1998 when iRobot won a DARPA contract to develop and manufacture tactical mobile robots iRobot PackBot. It was this versatile robot that the US government used during the rescue work after the World Trade Center terrorist attacks in 2001. PackBot also mapped the infested areas after the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster in Japan in 2011.
