ECC technology

ECC technology checks transparently and in real time the integrity of data stored in a memory. It can find and fix an error in one bit and detect a two-bit error. Some memory controllers can also repair larger-scale errors in conjunction with the ECC. Most professional desktops require ECC-enabled memory. In cooperation with parity control, the memory achieves maximum control of transmitted data. The parity consists in adding the auxiliary information to the one-bit word (parity bit) and can subsequently verify the authenticity of the transferred data.

Effective access and processing speed

Registered memory is equipped with a controller of its own that controls access to individual memory modules, making it easier for the memory controller on the board or the processor to work. Externally the memory behaves as the only module - the register chip - which takes care of writing and reading from individual memory cells and transfers the controller the result of these operations. This increases the efficiency of memory access and processing speed even when multiple memory modules are used at the same time. Some server boards require registered memory.
