The drive is equipped with an internal AES-256 bit hardware encryption that works automatically and encrypts all data stored in the memory and decrypts it to the user who knows the password. This password must be strong enough and contain at least six characters with alternating letters, digits, or special characters. After ten unsuccessful attempts, the drive locks up and formats itself, so the data are irrecoverably lost. This means the drive meets FIPS 140-2 certification standards .

Managed model

One interesting thing about the D300 Managed model is IronKey EMS management by DataLocker (must be purchased separately). It allows you to manage disk access, and you can change different settings such as password strength or an acceptable number of access attempts.
