The capacity for batteries for laptops is given in milliampere hours (mAh). In general, more capacity means more endurance. A multi-cell battery usually has a longer lifetime. This is due to the distribution of the load between the individual cells.

We can calculate the expected battery life if we know the battery capacity. Battery manufacturers often include a Wh (watt-hour) figure in addition to the mAh to make it easier to calculate battery life.

Battery power of (40 Wh) ÷ Laptop power consumption of (15 W for office work) = 6 hours
