MATATALAB MT3-5

The MATATALAB MT3-5 digital school microscope is used for detailed observation of the structures of various slides and objects. This white device is primarily intended for use in schools, educational institutions, and hobby clubs for teaching biology, natural sciences, and other fields. The optical system, with four objective lenses (4×, 10×, 40×, and 60×), offers a total digital magnification range of 400× to 1600× in combination with the 7" screen. The image of the observed sample is transmitted directly to the integrated 7" IPS display, so there is no need to use a traditional eyepiece. The microscope's construction weighs approximately 2.5kg and is designed for comfortable desktop use.

Tilting Display

The microscope is equipped with an integrated 7" IPS display that can be tilted up to 135°. The display's design makes it easy to set a comfortable viewing position and allows multiple users to view samples simultaneously without needing an eyepiece. The IPS panel provides wide viewing angles and faithful colour reproduction when examining details. The MT3-5 model uses a touchscreen, which also allows for measuring the dimensions of observed objects directly on the screen.

Optical Magnification and Objective Lenses

The optical system of the MT3-5 model uses four objective lenses with 4×, 10×, 40×, and 60× magnification, enabling the observation of objects at various magnification levels. In combination with the 7" screen, the microscope offers a digital magnification range of 400× to 1600×. The revolving nosepiece with four objective lenses allows for easy switching between magnification levels depending on the size and nature of the observed sample. The highest level of magnification is achieved using the 60× objective lens.

Digital Sensor

The device captures images using an integrated CMOS chip from Aptina. The MT3-5 model is equipped with an 8MP resolution sensor. Users can capture still images and video recordings of the observed samples at the press of a button. The sensor operates at a high resolution to capture fine structures. Data is saved to a memory card in the slot, and an 8GB card is included in the package.

Dual LED Illumination

The microscope combines two independent LED light sources for different types of observation. Transmitted light is used for viewing thin, transparent slides. Reflected light illuminates opaque objects from above for examining real, three-dimensional objects. The intensity of both LED sources can be smoothly adjusted using the brightness control knob on the body of the device. A mechanical stage with fine adjustment and coaxial focusing is used to position the sample.

Connectivity

The image signal can be transmitted either wirelessly via Wi-Fi networks or by cable. The device supports connection to mobile phones, tablets, and traditional computers. The wired connection uses a modern USB-C interface for data transfer to a PC. An HDTV output is also available for direct display on a television screen or monitor. The system's user interface offers a choice of 10 languages for easy setup.

Calibration and Software Tools

The equipment includes a calibration ruler with a micrometric scale from 0.03 to 0.2mm, used for the precise determination of the dimensions of observed objects. In conjunction with the MatataXplore computer software, you can perform sample analysis and measure various parameters. The program allows you to measure the length of line segments, angles defined by three points, radii of circles, and the area of selected objects. The system supports calibration for individual magnification levels using the calibration ruler and by entering the actual length of the chosen segment.
