12 Years in Chains - DVD

Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) lives as a free black man in upstate New York before the Civil War. When he is kidnapped and sold into slavery, he must confront cruelty (personified by a hateful slave owner, played by Michael Fassbender) as well as unexpected kindness, all with a desire to survive while maintaining his dignity. After twelve years of hardship, Solomon's chance encounter with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) changes his life once and for all.
