A novel for women

A woman who dreams of a great love and after many vicissitudes finally finds it, this is the most common theme of the reading material called the red library. A novel for women is really about nothing else. Twenty-two-year-old Laura, editor of the popular women's weekly Balanced Woman, and her prematurely widowed mother Jana, a translator by profession, also long for their dream love. To get their way, however, they must discount their ideas. Michal Viewegh has managed to elevate this familiar theme into a modern, intelligent and entertaining prose, intended not only for women, of course. The novel, which was also successfully made into a film, contains the usual Viewegh humour, various grotesque situations - and even a happy ending!
