ABBA: Ring Ring (Remastered 2011) – LP

Ring Ring is the debut album by Swedish pop group ABBA, originally released in Scandinavia in 1973 and also sold in other countries including West Germany, Australia, South Africa, and Mexico. The record was re-released in 1975 for the Australasian market, but did not reach the UK until 1992, and the US three years later.

The album first appeared on CD in Sweden in 1988, in West Germany in 1990, and subsequently in other countries. It has been digitally remastered three times – in 1997, 2001, and 2005, when it was included in The Complete Studio Recordings box set.

Released by the Polar Music label in 1973, the original album opened with the Swedish version of the title track, Ring Ring (Bara Du Slog En Signal), while the English version featured as the fourth track on side B.

The album also features the only ABBA song co-written by Agnetha Fältskog. Despite writing many songs during her solo career, Disillusion, for which she composed the music, remains her sole songwriting contribution to the group. The lyrics for this track were written by her husband and bandmate Björn Ulvaeus. Aside from this track, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus wrote and composed the entire ABBA catalogue.
