ABBA: Visitors (Remastered 2001) - CD
“The Visitors“ is the eighth and last studio album by the Swedish band ABBA, released on November 30, 1981 in Sweden.
On this record, the band deviated from lighter pop music and focused on more complex sounds. The opening track, “The Visitors“, with a vague synthesizer sound and characteristic Frida vocals, announced a change in musical style.
The album is one of the first to be recorded and mixed digitally and is historically the first to be produced in the form of a compact disc (17. August 1982). In total, it was digitally remastered three times, in 1997, 2001 and 2005, then as part of the box set The Complete Studio Recordings.
Recording of the album began on March 16, 1981, just one month after the divorce of Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
Ulvaeus later admitted that the atmosphere during the recording was not the best. Lyngstad said the group was tired of working together.
After the release, the album reached the top of several charts, but was not as successful as previous albums.
