About computers mostly not seriously
The book "About Computers, Mostly Not Seriously" presents two dozen feuilletons that draw on themes from the field of information and communication technologies. In them, the author glosses with insight and ironic exaggeration the various thought stereotypes, bad habits and minor oddities typical for the world of computers and the community of people around them. Readers will find out, among other things, why it's a good thing if some pubs don't have mobile phone signals, how a person can give himself schizophrenia by using two postal accounts, or why it's sometimes worth letting some spam into his email inbox. The environment of computer science is presented in the book in a caricatured form, but at the same time with a kind understanding of all "professional deviations" and all "expert disabilities". The author often turns his sharp pen against himself: He uses his own example to illustrate the sometimes absurdity of a world in which virtual reality is so real that its inhabitants often feel like tourists in a foreign city. The sense of situational comedy and the author's confidence in working with stylistic devices give the book its lightness and flow. For a train journey to a professional IT conference, this is an excellent companion.
