Age of Innocence - Blu-ray

New York 1871. A better society of the time created “a world with such a balance that its harmony could be destroyed by mere whispering.“ Social cream was governed by firm (albeit unwritten and never uttered) rules and rituals that determined more strictly than the law what was “appropriate“ and what was not. In this environment moves the young lawyer Newland Archer and his fiancée May Welland, a young, innocent creature who is the perfect product of his class.

Both Newland and May respect conventions and traditions, their marriage is appropriate and desirable, their future given. However, a disturbing element enters the wedding preparations like a bolt from the blue. Countess Olšenská comes from Europe, a beautiful attractive woman, socially unacceptable, but not bound by conventions, and offering the enchanted Newland an idea of another, freer world. However, the passionate (albeit platonic) love of these two people cannot be fulfilled without its protagonists destroying everything that is sacred to their society.
