Alphaville: Forever Young - LP

Alphaville: Forever Young - LP
The debut album from the German synth-pop group Alphaville was released in 1984 and features all three of the band's biggest hits: Big In Japan, Forever Young and Sounds Like A Melody.
It is the group's most critically acclaimed album and also their best-selling ever, with over two million copies sold worldwide. It also took the band's success beyond their native Germany and into a number of other countries, appearing in the top-selling album charts of six European nations, even reaching number one in Norway and Sweden. According to some music critics, it is a classic synth-pop album.
One of the most internationally famous German synth-pop groups, they formed in 1982 and took their name from the 1965 French film, Alphaville. The original name of the formation, which brought together singer Marian Gold and keyboardist Bernhard Lloyd, was Nelson Community. After Frank Mertens joined them, they briefly called themselves Forever Young, before finally choosing Alphaville. Their first big hit, Big In Japan, was written by Gold back in 1979 and was inspired by the name of singer Holly Johnson's band, Big In Japan, who would later become the frontman of Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Big In Japan was released in 1984 as their debut single, heralding their first and most famous record, Forever Young. To date, they have released seven albums, with the longest breaks of thirteen and seven years between their last three.
