The story of a guarded city where the atom and human characters are split
Petr Weiner is a talented nuclear physicist who is eager for a career. But he lives in socialist Czechoslovakia, where a person with a clean slate doesn' t get far. Especially when he doesn' t cooperate as he should. Weiner is in danger of his last hopes for a scientific career being permanently extinguished. Unless he accepted the StB' s offer — to go to the Dubna nuclear research center in the Soviet Union and bring back information that the secret service might be interested in. However, the unpredictable world of Dubna dictates its own rules.

They wrote about the book:
The author alternates elements of classical prose with an almost reportage style and manages this balancing act brilliantly. The story holds up a new mirror to evil, which the reader might think they already know in its entirety.

I spent an important part of my childhood in this city. The world I discovered there was completely different from the conditions in which I spent the rest of my life. The story I am telling is inspired by facts and eyewitness testimonies, which I have literary adapted to paint a picture of life and characters in Dubna at that time.
