Aviation Disasters and Investigations 2
The audiobook Air Disasters and Their Investigations 2 contains the sequel to the successful title written by aviation columnist Lukáš Musil. Read by Jiří Schwarz and Libor Terš. Directed by Helena Rytířová.
After the successful book Air Disasters and Their Investigation, aviation columnist Lukáš Musil comes up with its sequel. The author has selected another 40 air crashes that influenced the development of air transport after World War II. The first ones took place in the 1950s, the last ones are relatively recent, we are mostly witnesses to them, we learned about them from the media. The causes of air disasters vary. Some were caused by technical problems, others by bad weather conditions or pilot or ground staff error. Most often, however, there is an unfortunate confluence of several different factors.
Unlike the first volume, in this book you will also encounter disasters whose background was purely criminal. In the 1970s, a new phenomenon emerged in air transport - terrorism. He was behind the tragic crashes of PAN AM's Boeing 747 over Lockerbie, Scotland, and Korean Air's Boeing 707, lost over the Indian Ocean in 1987. Since the 1990s, the world began to encounter a completely new cause of air crashes, namely the intentional causing of a plane crash by the pilot. This was the case with SilkAir 185 in 1997, Egyptair 990 in 1999 and Germanwings 9525 in 2015.
The audiobook will guide you through the events that preceded the specific air disasters. It looks not only at the causes but also at the consequences and the measures that have contributed to improving air transport safety. Last but not least, it gives you a glimpse behind the scenes of investigators whose work has not always been easy.
