Avicii: Tim - LP

When Tim Bergling died on 20 April 2018, the music for the new album was ninety per cent complete. Tim left behind a rich collection of almost-finished songs, notes, email conversations and text messages about the music he was creating.
The songwriters Tim was collaborating with at the time decided to continue with the recording, with the permission of his family, who did not want Tim's music to be kept locked away. "After everything, to finish the tracks. I feel paralysed just talking about it. But the main task in finishing the tracks was to fulfil Tim's vision as accurately as possible," says Kristoffer Fogelmark, describing the recording process.

Using the Fruity Loops programme, Kristoffer and Albin Nedler were able to find and preserve Tim's exact keystrokes. "He had a completely different way of playing," explains Nedler. "His fingers would sometimes hit an unusual note, which gave his songs a unique sound. Tim's fingerprints are literally all over the record."

Avicii gained immense popularity with both critics and fans in 2011 when he released the dance hit Le7els, which topped the UK and US charts and earned Avicii a Grammy nomination. The follow-up song Wake Me Up confidently conquered the charts in 81 countries and definitively guaranteed global success for Avicii, who became one of the most famous DJs ever.
