Balneology

The publication presents in a comprehensive form the basic knowledge about the therapeutic use of natural medicinal resources. Brief knowledge of biophysics, physiology and neurophysiology is presented to the extent necessary to understand the mechanisms of action of natural medicinal sources, i.e. natural mineral waters, fluids, peloids and climate. The publication is intended to serve the professional public in the basic orientation in balneology from the perspective of psychoneuroimmunology, medicine of disorders of logistics functions (ANS) and geomedicine.
The book is intended for physicians in preparation for certification in rehabilitation and physical medicine (RFM), is suitable for those interested in all clinical disciplines, for undergraduate students of master and bachelor studies in physiotherapy.
The publication builds on physiotherapy textbooks and materials on balneology, filling a certain information gap about the locations of therapeutic resources, applications, indications and contraindications of balneology. The annexes supplement the work with the legislative framework in force on 1 November 2008.

MUDr. Dobroslava Jandová, Doctor honoris causa of ČLS JEP, neurologist and rehabilitation doctor with 33 years of experience in the spa industry, uses reflexology and acupuncture in the treatment of patients with a comprehensive approach, is currently the head of the Clinic of Rehabilitation Medicine at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University Ruská 87, 100 34 Prague.
