Battalion - DVD
When the respected lawyer Dr. František Uher (Karel Hašler) discovers his wife is having an affair with a duplicitous officer, he is deeply wounded. He leaves for a notorious tavern called Batalion, where he becomes the "lawyer for the poor" and turns his back on the bourgeois world for good. However, under the influence of alcoholism, he gradually loses his judgment and sinks into oblivion.
Batalion, one of the pinnacles of 1920s Czech cinematography, stands out for its socially sensitive take on reality, its thoughtful intertwining of several storylines, and its unconventional depiction of the main character's inner visions, inspired by the European avant-garde of the era.
The silent film is released with original music by the composer Kryštof Mařatka.

DIGITALLY RESTORED FILM
Digital restoration is the process of editing a film “frame by frame”, which lets you see and hear it just as audiences did when it was first released.
The digital editing process begins by scanning the film in 4K resolution using special equipment with registration pins to ensure maximum image stability. This is followed by the removal of visual and audio imperfections in two phases – first semi-automatically, and then cleaned manually, frame by frame.
