Before you found me

Evie Cormac's mysterious past hangs over her like a shadow. As a child, she was found hiding in a secret room where an adult man had been tortured to death. Many of her kidnappers and tormentors escaped justice, but even though they went unpunished, she never forgot them. Now, on a hot summer's day, Evie is taken back to the past when she sees seventeen bodies of illegal immigrants wash up on a Lincolnshire beach. Only one person survived, a teenager, who tells the police that their small boat was deliberately rammed and sunk. The multiple murder is assigned to psychologist Cyrus Haven, who has a long-standing collaboration with the police. It soon becomes clear to him that Evie is somehow connected to the whole tragedy. He is convinced that if he solves this case, he will finally be able to uncover the secret of Evie's past…
