Beneath the whispering doors
When the Grim Reaper comes for Wallace at his own funeral, he begins to suspect that he might actually be dead after all.
Instead of taking him straight to the afterlife, he is brought to a small town. On its outskirts, just off a road winding through a forest, a teashop is nestled among the mountains, owned by a man named Hugo. To the locals, Hugo is the teashop owner; to the souls who need to cross over, he is a ferryman.
But Wallace isn't ready to leave the life he's barely begun to live. With Hugo's help, he starts to discover the things he missed out on while he was alive.
When the Manager, an inquisitive and powerful being, appears at the teashop and gives Wallace one week to cross over, Wallace decides to fit an entire lifetime into seven days.
Under the whispering door is a witty and kind-hearted contemporary fantasy about a ghost who refuses to leave and the ferryman he falls in love with. It's a wonderful love story about a life spent in an office and a death spent building a home.
