Max’s debt to the Crown has been repaid.

The King has signed Heinrich de Gramont’s petition, relieving Max Renard of his military service at the Western Fortress. Max’s debt to the Crown is thus repaid. And his “loving” uncle now expects his ill-behaved, defiant nephew to promptly set out for the capital to marry Vicomtesse Aurélie de Marbot. Max knows that this time, he cannot avoid the journey to the capital. Moreover, besides personal matters, he has a great many questions for both his father’s brother and a number of relatives on his mother’s side. Therefore, he decides to go to Herouxville and find out just how far his blood ties can take him.
