Bob Marley & The Wailers: Survival Ltd Num

LP Record When Bob Marley released his eleventh studio album, Survival, in 1979, it marked a clear thematic shift for the then 34-year-old singer compared to his previous LPs. His last album, Kaya, was much softer, more optimistic, and self-contained. Some people had criticised Marley for only singing about love and marijuana, claiming he had become too soft, too mellow. Survival is a thoroughly political album with a religious subtext and a clear theme running through its songs. "Africa unite / 'Cause we're moving right out of Babylon / And we're going to our fathers' land," Marley sings in the track Africa Unite.
