Brno Jewish Women
The new Moravian Margrave Jan Henry struggles to save his curse-stricken marriage to Margaret of Opava and becomes acquainted with Brno, which includes the Jewish Quarter... The local Rabbi Isaac, who raises his own children as well as his ward Hester, cooperates with the "Jewish" chief magistrate of the Brno patricians and together they solve the crimes committed by Jews against Christians and Christians against Jews...
Mordechai, a Jew, and his daughter Noba survived two pogroms, one in Spyr and the other in Wrocław, and sought refuge in Brno, where Jews and townspeople lived in mutual tolerance. The new ecclesiastical decrees of the Archbishop of Prague, however, incite Christians against the Jews as the originators of all evil. Will the margrave manage to keep order in Brno, or will the priests provoke the restless, plague-ridden Brnoers to a pogrom?
A critical day is approaching, Good Friday in 1350, which will test the strength of long-standing relationships.
