Brno Philharmonic, Pinkas Jiří: Jakobín (2x CD) - CD

From the original commentary on the CD:

•. The Czech public lived in the tension of Antonín Dvořák' s new opera for several months before the premiere of the work - after all, seven years have passed since the premiere of his last stage work, Dimitrije, and the author has so far become world-famous.

Not only the premiere, but also the rehearsal on Monday morning, February 11, 1889, was remarkable, held in costumes and under lighting as in a public performance.

Although Jakobín was successful with the Czech public in this first musical adaptation and did not retreat from the repertoire, both authors felt the urgency of an additional, deeper intervention in the conception of the plot and the evil places of the drama.

•. In a new version, again under the direction of Adolf Čech, the work premiered at the National Theater in Prague on June 19, 1898 as a gala performance in honor of the congress of Czech journalists and its guests. And it was just as exciting a performance as at the premiere nine years ago - everyone appreciated Dvořák' s will to come to terms with the work again and his creative balance in rebuilding the whole acts. After all, Dvořák composed more than a third of the work again! Not only did he use the new text, but also some of the outputs, where the word remained unchanged,

wrote new music. After all, the famous song of Bohuš and Julie “We wandered abroad“, which quickly became popular, originated in its final form only during this second version during Dvořák' s stay abroad.

Jacobin was completed in an artistic form, it was ensured by its longevity and popularity.

In addition to the composer Rusalka, this work has become one of the most permanent pillars of the repertoire of Czech musical dramatic scenes up to our time.
