Catapult: Hammer For Life (2016) - CD

The new songs are mostly the work of Olda Říha. For one song, he borrowed the lyrics from the 'anarchist rebel' poet František Gellner, and in Kladivo na život (Hammer on Life), he was inspired by the words of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The album also includes one cover version, a Jimmie Rodgers classic with lyrics by Jiří Suchý, To všechno dnes čas (Time Will Take It All Away).

Katapult is a legendary Czech rock group that holds a special place in the history of domestic pop music. Throughout their forty-year career, the band, led by Oldřich Říha, has weathered all misfortunes (including a ban during the socialist era and the passing of Dědek Šindelář and Tolja Kohout to rock 'n' roll heaven, etc.) and has performed more or less continuously. Since 2009, the revitalised Katapult has performed with the line-up: Oldřich Říha on guitar, Andy Budka on bass guitar, and Ondřej Timpl on drums. Their classic songs, now part of the golden fund of Czech music, include Až (When), Chodníkový blues (Pavement Blues), Katapult, Půlnoční závodní dráha (Midnight Racetrack), and Vojín XY hlásí příchod (Private XY Reports for Duty).
