Cejch

This book maps the history of a German family on the Czech side of the Ore Mountains, from the first generations who settled in this harsh region, through the violence of the war and the post-war expulsion, to the gloomy return long after the abandoned village is consumed by the forest. The Schmelzer family is marked by a certain ancestral guilt, which brings them into constant conflict with the Vogel family over various generations. However, historical events ultimately shake everyone in the same way.
