Roman legionaries decide the fate of two empires. The eighth installment of the historical adventure series Cato.
A new threat hangs over the Roman Empire in the first century AD. Her old enemies, the Parthians, vie with her for control of Palmyra, a nominally neutral desert kingdom whose ruling family is in open strife. Rome therefore sends troops into the conflict area under the experienced leadership of the centurions Macron and Caton.
Their mission is to protect the king of Palmyra and the borders of his country and to put down the rebellion of one of the king's sons, who relies on his allies, the Parthians, among others. As soon as the Parthians learn of the arrival of the Roman army, they immediately begin to call their own men to arms. Macron's cohort must confront enemies deep in the treacherous desert landscape. If she is to save Palmyra from falling into Parthian hands, she will have to fight against overwhelming odds. The struggle for lasting peace and the future of the Empire, in which Macro and Cato have never faced so many obstacles, continues.
