Chosen by Darkness

Being a true Daughter of my Goddess is my essence. Or, it should be. But I am different, which in my family's language means weak. I would lay down my life for my sisters, and soon I will have the chance, because the Triple Gift is approaching. The ceremony in which we offer ourselves to our Gods as a sacrifice to the Darkness that guards our borders. Just as we offer ourselves to our Gods, so do our enemy families. Three families – three offerings. So it is decreed by law. According to legend, this is the only way our Gods can protect us from the evil that lurks beyond the borders.

But. what if everything is completely different?

What if what we have believed in is just a lie, established for ages, just like the instilled hatred towards the other families?

Maybe I'm not different. Maybe I'm just not. whole. I don't know. But there is a prophecy that will soon reveal the whole truth to me.
