Chuk and Gek A1/A2

This touching story about the journey of two young boys and their mother to find their father, who works far away in the north, is filled with an incredibly bright and positive atmosphere. The author, Arkady Gaidar, writes with great affection about the little rascals and fidgets with their strange names, detailing their minor squabbles and the grand adventures they have along the way. For this edition, the original text of the short story has been simplified and adapted for beginner and intermediate readers who want to test their ability to handle continuous text in Russian. The parallel Czech translation allows readers to instantly check if they have understood the foreign-language text correctly. The exercises at the end of the book are suitable for testing the knowledge you have gained. You can find the audio recording in MP3 format, where a native speaker narrates the story, in the 'Files for download' section.
