Coastal path
The description of their journey is almost brutally honest. Raynor and Moth are often hungry, have nowhere to wash, and others turn away from them with mistrust. At the same time, they are still able to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Their journey is also a path to self-awareness, to the pure experience of the most basic things, to hope.
Raynor and Moth are a middle-aged couple who run a family farm in Wales. They restored it together and raised their children there. However, due to a bad investment, they lose everything overnight and find themselves homeless. Just a few days later, they learn that Moth is suffering from a rare degenerative disease. As they ponder what to do, Raynor remembers a book she once read, and the couple spontaneously decide to walk the South West Coast Path – a marked trail of about a thousand kilometres. With their last money, they buy a used tent and two backpacks and simply set off. For the entire journey, they have to survive on just forty-eight pounds a week.
