Confessions

It is late September 2001 and New York is plastered with photographs of people missing since the attacks on the World Trade Centre.

Among them is Cora Brady's father – on a poster that she created herself and put up on lampposts and bridges. Her mother died a long time ago, and now, orphaned and on the cusp of adulthood, Cora feels lost and alone. But before long, she receives a letter with the offer of a new life: far away, in the rugged Irish countryside, in the town where her parents grew up, her aunt can offer her a home and fulfil a long-forgotten promise.

It is in Ireland that the story of her family lies hidden, and she gradually begins to unravel it…

In Confessions, the breathtaking debut from a talented writer, we follow three generations of women, each of whom experiences the irresistible pull of the past in their own time.
