Cooder Joachim: Over That Road I'm Bound (2x LP) - LP

Joachim Cooder's first album for the Nonesuch label is comprised of songs he selected from the repertoire of banjo player Uncle Dave Macon.

He rearranged the songs to suit the electric mbira (a type of African thumb piano). He recorded the collected tracks with his band and various guests - Ry Cooder (banjo, guitar, bass, backing vocals), Rayna Gellert (fiddle), Juliette Commagere (backing vocals), Sam Gendel (bass), Glenn Patscha (piano and organ), Amir Yaghmai (yali tambur), Dan Gellert (banjo and fiddle), and Vieux Farka Touré (guitar). The album is available on CD and 2LP.

Joachim Herbert Cooder is an American percussionist, composer, and producer. Cooder started playing drums at the age of five. He studied percussion at the California Institute of the Arts, where he formed the group RadioBemba, which combined classical and Latin American music in their playing.

He composes film scores and often performs on recordings with his father, Ry Cooder. He has also contributed to many studio recordings, such as the Buena Vista Social Club albums. He is also a member of the groups Vagenius and Hello Stranger.
