Cream: Fresh Cream - LP
Cream was an influential British band on the border between rock and blues from the second half of the 1960s.
“Fresh Cream“ is the debut album of the band Cream, which was released in December 1966. It took sixth place on the British and 39th place on the American chart. In 2003, the album ranked 101st in a Rolling Stone magazine poll dedicated to the 500 best albums of all time.
Cream' s debut album is based on blues-rock, but in some parts it is already moving to psychedelic pop-rock, which will be fully applied on the following album. Catches listeners right from the start, which is provided by Bruc' s stomping song “N. WITH. AT. “Also famous is the presentation of the blues classic by Willie Dixon“ Spoonful “, played as fresh and new as never before.
It is especially the royal performance of Eric Clapton, which confirms that the blues is his blood type. As he excels in blues songs, however, he gets a little lost in more pop songs, where playing rhythm guitar doesn' t suit him very well.
Very interesting on the record is Bruce' s bass guitar, which is more aggressive, but also more melodic than was usual on contemporary recordings. Ginger Baker presents himself on the album with his usual, “stubborn“ style of drumming, which excels especially in his own instrumental “Toad“, where he indulged in a good solo. The first LP Cream is great, but in the future we will experience even more amazing musical experiences from this formation.
